Who is the Good News Poet?

Hello world! My name is Roylin Joseph Picou and I am the Good News Poet. A little bit about me.

I was born in Lutcher, Louisiana. I was raised in New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz. For many years I was an organist and pianist for my great uncle’s church. Being raised in New Orleans gave me an innate desire to be inspired and to be inspirational. Playing the organ for my uncle’s church helped me to realize this desire for many years.

As I grew older, my desire to attract and impress females grew stronger. I discovered poetry and soon realized I was really good at remembering, reciting and writing poetry. In my early twenties I started studying the speeches and writings of Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. and was greatly inspired by the power and the rhythm of the words he used in his speeches and writings. I thought, I would love to be an inspiration to others with powerful rhythmic words. It suddenly dawned on me that it would great to be a poetic prophetic messenger of hope, faith and love.

In April, 1989 I moved to Calgary, Alberta and a year later started working at Alberta Wheat Pool. While working there I composed poetry doing my breaks and sent them out to my fellow co-workers. Very soon I discovered people loved and looked forward to receiving my poems because they were thought provoking and often inspiring.

In October of 2000 I spontaneously moved to Edmonton and within a few years was connected to the Raving Poets community and began to polish my poetry writing and performing skills. Let me back up a bit, for I forgot to mention before connecting with the Raving Poets, I wrote a novel titled The Little Sage and would read it at my children's schools to their classmates and it was very well received!

Well, like I said earlier I have always desired to be an inspirational person. I feel now my time has come! I am ready to share my talent with more people on a larger and more visible platform.
